Kinetics study of CO2 absorption in potassium carbonate solution promoted by diethylenetriamine

Abstract In this work, characterization and kinetics of CO2 absorption in potassium carbonate (K2CO3) solution promoted by diethylenetriamine (DETA) were investigated. Kinetics measurements performed using a stirred cell reactor the temperature range 303.15–323.15 K total concentration up to 2.5 kmol m?3. The density, viscosity, physical solubility, diffusivity rate determined. reaction between K2CO3 + DETA examined. Pseudo-first order kinetic constants also predicted zwitterion mechanism. It was revealed that addition small amounts DETA K2CO3 results significant enhancement rate. activation energy found be 1.6 35.6 kJ mol?1, respectively. terms constant, showed better performance compared other promoters such as MEA, EAE, proline, arginine, taurine, histidine alanine.
